NamePairings does not require an account and does not ask for personal information to use the site. Any shortlist you build stays only in your own browser and is never sent to us.

Who this site is for

NamePairings is made for adults — expectant and new parents choosing a name. It is not aimed at children, it has no content directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact address, email us and we will delete it.

Analytics

We use privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics to count page views and see which pages are useful. It does not identify you.

Advertising

This site plans to show ads served by Google AdSense and its partners. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. For more on how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see this page.

Where this site is available

NamePairings is available to visitors worldwide.

What we don't do

We don't ask for your name, your child's name, your email, or any account details to use the site. There is no sign-up, no login, and no profile. Matching calculations run in your browser using the name dataset. Opening a name page or a finder link sends its URL to our hosting provider; finder links can include the name in a query parameter, which may appear in technical logs and browser history. Avoid entering sensitive personal information.

Server logs

Like effectively every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information for each visit — the page requested, the time, a general location derived from IP address, and browser type — mainly to keep the site running and catch abuse. These logs are not linked to any personal identity and are not used to build a profile of individual visitors.

Cookies

Beyond the advertising cookies described above, the site may use a small technical cookie to remember a display preference, such as light or dark mode. This doesn't identify you and isn't used for tracking across other websites.

Third-party links

Pages on this site link out to sources like the Social Security Administration and Google's own ad-settings pages. Once you follow an outside link, that site's own privacy policy applies — we don't control and aren't responsible for how other sites handle your data.

Data retention

Because we don't collect personal information in normal use, there's little to retain. Any correction or suggestion you send by email is kept only as long as needed to act on it and for basic recordkeeping, then deleted.

Changes to this policy

If how we handle data changes — most likely if and when advertising actually goes live, or if we add analytics beyond the aggregate kind described above — this page will be updated and the "last updated" date at the top will change. There's no separate notification list; this page is the single source of truth.

Do Not Track signals

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal with every request. There is no single agreed standard for how sites should respond to it, so like most sites, NamePairings does not currently change its behavior based on that signal. Choosing not to enable personalized ads through the Google Ads Settings link above works regardless of your browser's Do Not Track setting.

Security

The site is served entirely over HTTPS, and since there's no login or account system, there's no password database or user account data that could be exposed in a breach. The only data with any privacy weight at all is what you voluntarily send by email, which is handled the way any small business would handle correspondence.

Your local shortlist

If you save or star names while browsing, that list is stored using your browser's own local storage on your device, not on our servers. Clearing your browser data, switching devices, or using a private/incognito window will clear it — there's no account to sync it back from, and we have no way to recover it for you.

How your consent choices are stored

If a cookie-consent choice becomes relevant once advertising goes live, that choice will be stored locally in your own browser, the same way a display preference is — not on our servers, and not tied to any personal identity.
