Mithila Labs is a small independent studio. We make free web tools and reference pages, each built around one question people really ask.

NamePairings, the site you are on, answers one of them: which names go well with the one you have already chosen?

How we work

We pick a narrow question, work out the answer properly and put it on a page that loads quickly and stays out of the way. Where there is a score or a calculation, we show how it works, and we say what it leaves out. You can read the details for this site on the methodology page.

What we are not

We are not name experts, linguists or a baby-name brand, and we do not present ourselves as one. The sounds and rhythm checks on this site are simple rules we wrote. The names and popularity figures come from US government records. The meanings are short summaries and the style labels are our own judgement.

Is it free?

Yes. Nothing is behind a login or a paywall. We expect to cover running costs with a small amount of advertising.
